Prescriptions

Non-urgent advice: COVID-19 Update

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we advise that patients avoid bringing their repeat slips down to surgery to order their medication. Where possible please order your prescriptions online, this is the easiest and safest way for patients and quickest way for staff to process.  With the likelihood of staff absences over the coming months, this will help the surgery to provide a more efficient service.

Please also ensure you nominate a pharmacy so your prescription can be sent to them electronically.

If you do not have online access, we can provide you with a username and password.

During this pandemic we will accept prescription requests to our practice email [email protected] or if you do not have access to the internet we will accept requests over the phone.  Please phone the surgery Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Friday ONLY between 9am – 1pm ext 212.  Please only order over the phone if you have no other option as our phone lines are very busy and having the request in writing is safer.

Please Note: Extra medication or prescriptions ordered early will not be issued.

How to Order

We please ask that you do not call up the surgery to request a prescription. There are several ways you can request a prescription:

  1. Via the Rotherham health app
  2. Via the SystemOnline app
  3. Email us on the below email address

Order Medication Online

If you want, you can also order your medication online by completing the following form.

If you are requesting a new prescription which you haven’t had before, then you will need to call up and arrange an appointment with a clinician to discuss this to see if this medication is appropriate.

If you are requesting medication that hasn’t been issued recently a clinician may review this and be in touch with you. This is so they can discuss this medication with you and assess if this is the right medication required for you. Please be aware this process will take more time than usual so that the clinician can check through your records and decide upon an action.

Please only order over the phone if you have no other option as our phone lines are very busy and having the request in writing is safer.

Please Note: Extra medication or prescriptions ordered early will not be issued.

Non-urgent advice: Notice

Your repeat prescription will be ready for collection from the surgery during opening times 48 working hours following receipt of your request. However, if you require your prescription sooner than this due to unforeseen circumstances please speak to the receptionist.

Please see here for our surgery opening times as prescriptions will not be available for collection outside these hours.

Repeat Dispensing

If you, or someone you care for, use the same medicines on a daily basis (ie regularly), you may be able to benefit from using the NHS electronic repeat dispensing service the practice offers to suitable patients.  This service means you won’t have to order your repeat prescription from the GP practice every time you need more medicine.  Just collect your dispensed medication from your nominated community pharmacy.  please read the attached leaflet and speak to a member of the practice to check if this service would benefit you.

Please read the eRepeat Dispensing Leaflet for more information

Medication Reviews

Patients on repeat medication will be asked to see a doctor, nurse practitioner or practice nurse at least once a year to review these regular medications and notification should appear on your repeat slip. Please ensure that you book an appropriate appointment to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions.
